Deborah Hart is the chair of the Consumer Advocacy Council which advocates for residential and small business electricity consumers.  She serves on the formation board of the Grocery Action Group.  Deborah chairs the boards of the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand and the Retirement Villages’ Residents’ Council. She is the former chair of the independent electoral review, sits on the Human Rights Review Tribunal and has served as a lay member of the High Court. 

A solicitor by training, the former executive director of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand undertook the independent review of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme and is a former member of the government’s Small Business Advisory Group.
