Chris started his career in the electricity sector as a market services analyst at the system operator (Transpower). The main focus of his role was managing and monitoring ancillary services provision and developing system operator's data storage and reporting capabilities.
Before joining the Electricity Authority, Chris worked for Contact Energy, first as a spot trader and then in business performance reporting team in the retail arm business.
Chris has worked for the Authority since 2017 leading projects such as the reset of the Extended Reserve project, implementation of the Real-time pricing changes and, more recently, the implementation of the Winter 2023 initiatives.
The Operations Policy team at the Authority is responsible for reviewing and implementing security of supply regulations and managing operational changes to systems and regulations for the wholesale spot market.
