Brittany Goodwin

Senior Social Policy and Advocacy Advisor
Good Shepherd New Zealand

Brittany focuses on social policy related to women and girls experiencing hardship in Aotearoa, and what works to reduce harm. She helps Good Shepherd raise awareness of issues, advocate for system change, and hone services for impact.

Brittany’s academic background in social geography introduced her to the relationships between gender, power, and place. She dedicated much of her undergraduate and postgraduate research to gender geographies. She is deeply interested in the inequitable experiences of homelessness and housing deprivation for certain populations.

Brittany held policy roles within the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). She served as Private Secretary to the Associate Minister of Housing and has led development of legislative policy, system policy, and system strategy.
