Alzbeta is the General Manager of Ecogas. Ecogas is operating New Zealand’s first anaerobic digestion system utilising source separated feedstock to generate renewable energy, carbon dioxide and a nutrient rich bio-fertiliser Fertify. Following a successful start in 2022, Ecogas has partnered with FirstGas to bring the first renewable gas (biomethane) at commercial scale to New Zealand. The Reporoa facility is expected to produce 100,000 GJ of biomethane per year with a potential to further scale-up.
As an expert in anaerobic digestion and resource recovery from organic residues, Alzbeta has a wide understanding of the economic and environmental landscape both here in New Zealand and on a world stage. Alzbeta holds a MSc and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Alzbeta has been at the forefront of the bioenergy industry in New Zealand over the last 10 years through her involvement in the Bioenergy Association of New Zealand (BANZ).
