David graduated from Otago and Canterbury Universities in Science and Chemical Engineering. He has spent some 35 years in the Energy and related technology sectors in New Zealand, Australia, Europe and North America.
His career has spanned pretty much all aspects of the energy sector including some 20 years in senior general management running Contact Energy’s generation fleet and Vector’s trading and metering businesses.
David’s achievements over this period, of most relevance, include leading Contact Energy back into geothermal development, establishing Vector’s smart meter business into a market leader and leading this business successfully into Australia.
David, together with his wife Janice, run their own consultancy business out of Hawkes Bay. This business focuses primarily on the development of renewable energy, smart metering roll-outs and decarbonising industry.
He has advised organisations such as OJI, Panpac, Fonterra, Intellihub, Brookfields, Meridian Energy, Transpower, Partnersgroup, NZSteel, Victoria University, Enpot, Powerco, Ballance, 8Rivers, Wells Electrical, Bespokeinternational, and Greymouth Petroleum.
